The SION Improvement District water system is supplied with fresh water from six wells within the district. As the district is divided into two separate areas, two samples are taken once a week from both the north and southern areas at various locations and tested for colloform and e-coli at a government approved testing facility, Passmore Laboratory. Results usually take two business days to complete.
Elevated selenium levels have been detected in the north system and are tested for changes every two months. Previous and existing selenium levels have been relatively consistent and are well below Health Canadia’s maximum allowable concentration (MAC), however, concentrations as defined by British Columbia’s Ministry of Health fall slightly above their standard (MAC).
